On the one hand, with such a niche fandom as ours, I do not want to do a single thing that discourages anyone from joining us. OTOH, it sometimes seems like we're being trolled or ignored when we warn. Where should the line be drawn?
I guess. But with what just happened, we'd already been ignored twice and our edits gone around without contact. Even now, I'd be happy to unblock them - if they said something. All these newcomers just pick up their toys and leave.
Long story short, they spammed the category "Pre-Series Dead" all over a bunch of articles where it plainly did not apply; Gohan warned them, I seconded, and we both cleaned this up, only to have the category added back. The first run was an over-enthusiastic error in judgment; the second exasperated me.
Again, all it takes is an apology, but I haven't even heard a complaint from them.
Even then there are still rules to be followed when you join any group of community on-line. If they can't stick to that then they aren't worth having around.
We have such an issue with one of the GuP wiki, she posted a series of images that didn't comply with the rules we have for images which were then, not surprisingly, removed, and she was even explained by another member of the admin team as to why.
Her reaction, to make her own gup related wiki and swipe our material, copying infoboxes that were made for that wiki by members of the admin group.
We're not that worried about it, she is never, ever, going to be able to compete remotely with the GUP wiki as we have a dedicated group of admins who are passionate about adding to the wiki and improving it. The amount of information that we have on the series is staggering and a testament to the dedication of the people working on it, information that you won't find anywhere else.
And if she really thinks that she can go head to head with a large wiki that has such an active admin team than she's even dumber than I initially thought.
It's the same thing as if somebody who's been kicked from this wiki suddenly making their own EL wiki, annoying yes but by no means something to lose sleep over. We are miffed at how she took some of our work and is acting all full of herself but her wiki is nothing compared to what we have created, if she goes on this solo tour then it'll end only one way.
A wiki requires a dedicated admin team, passionate contributers, members who are knowledgeable about the series, in order to remain viable and up to date. She has none of that, we on the other hand do, our admin team is very active with 6 to 7 members, myself included, present on a daily basis.
Our goal is much like Gojirob and you guys have, to make our wiki the number 1 source of information for that series.
