  • The story goes that the exec in charge of Cartoon Network's Adult Swim wanted EL, but knew it would have to be too far chopped up to be worth it. In a similar vein, I'm wondering about EL videos taken from the anime. There are few moments of importance that do not involve nudity or gore. Should I simply ban them? I ask because this kind of bar is hard to set.

  • I'm not ranting, but two more pics went down courtesy of Sansse. One was of Mayu walking in on Kouta and Nyu in the bath (stunned surprise, nothing more) and Nyu curiously grabbing Mayu's chest. I thought of these more as 'awkward oops' pics than anything remotely near the line. Is it the presence of a child in these pics causing the problem? I want to stay clear of the ToU, and I'm trying to use common sense. But I don't want every chapter-pic to be a violent one, and most humor in EL can walk the line a bit without an inch of flesh showing. I seem to be offending someone, since Sansse acts on reports. Maybe I'm too much a fan to see the line clearly. Any guidance to be had?

    • Well, I found the entry in the ToU. By using Wikia you agree not to...:"

"Post or transmit any content that is obscene, pornographic, abusive, offensive, profane, or otherwise violates any law or right of any third party, or content that contains homophobia, ethnic slurs, religious intolerance, or encourages criminal conduct"

So you have multiple problems; firstly is that the ecchi content deems it "pornographic" to western audiences and, since the server is run by westerners in a western country, their perception holds priority. Second is that allowing ecchi content to appear without a disclaimer is legally-awkward. To be honest, it was inevitable for an Elfen Lied-based wiki, considering that it routinely features graphic mutilation. Still, I'd suggest enquiring about an Uncyclopedia-style "disclaimer" JavaScript.

    • Its funny. I was honestly more concerned about pics of Kanae and Kisaragi's deaths than any butts or boobs. No, I need a disclaimer. To say nothing of what happens when the Elfen Lied-Saw Crossover film comes out. :)

  • Because its such a short chapter, I uploaded all the pages from the Special Chapter in Volume 8 called 'To Drink Or To Be Drunk' and placed them on the chapter's summary page. Its a bit more ecchi than most, though not hentai or like that.. Point being, repeatedly now, two pics from this group keep vanishing. They are the ones that are the most 'out there', but I wonder if its related. I checked the history, and no signs of an edit show. The pics picture designation numbers still show in the spaces they once occupied, but the images are gone. Is this a random glitch or is there a 'censor-bot' that just weeds out such images? Again, while they are strong even for EL, they are not porn that I can tell.

  • Is it too dry, or right for a catch-all guidepost?

  • I was mulling over articles for minor characters who are not part of a crowd scene or like that. The little Diclonius girl who led police into the ambush, the crepes vendor, and that sort. I'm of two minds : On the one hand, many Wikis make themselves look a bit silly this way, reffing every last incident and person when they are well-covered in the larger articles (Harry Potter Wiki is one of those). On the other hand, someone may come to this Wiki wanting info on the ambush Diclonius, and at least one person thought this was how Number 3 got captured.

Obviously, I want to clear up such confusion. But with a lot of help from a lot of people, I've at least tried to make this wiki look professional, however far that goes. I'm concerned that opening the gates on this level of minor character will lead to 'Heart Popped Out Guard' -caliber articles.

    • You can always have them as a themed list - eg. "List of minor Diclonii". If you think there's enough information in a specific entry to warrent a new article, move the info to its own page.

  • Based on your edit of 'Disposal Order', I added the 'Plot' marker to most of the chapters and episodes, but on Chapter 10, 'A Sudden Visitor' and Episode 14, 'Rainstorm', adding that messes up the page.

  • A couple of pics from the gallery on Elfen Lied Tankōbon Volume 7 and on one or two others have gone blank. I think at least one of them (on 7) was arguably questionable, though not at all explicit. Do you think perhaps this was just a glitch/burp in the system or could they have been marked for content? I don't think all of them were even near 'the line', so I'm working on the assumption of a glitch. The history shows no action on anyone's part, but I'm just not sure.

  • Hey ForeRunner,

This is about the RE wiki and the fact that I have been blocked from it because of my stupidity. I'm not asking you to forgive me for what I did, or to unblock me, I only ask that you hear me out.

With the Zombies page, I accidentally deleted the entire page. I did not mean to do it I assure you. What i meant to do was put in a small edit in the Trivia section. I saw a mistake and tried to adjust it, but, for some reason, when I tried to publish it, the page decided to blank itself for some reason. The story seems a little far-fetched, and if I heard this, I wouldn't believe it, but this is what happened. I never meant for this to happen, and what I have done is unforgiveable. But, I've been on the wiki for about 4 months and I have never made an edit to an article/page. I usually keep to writing and commenting on blogs.

I would like it if you unblocked me because I wish to continue with my weekly blogs, which I have been doing for the past few weeks. If you can't find it in your heart to forgive me, I will understand and only wish that you will take my explaination into consideration. I would never have tried to edit the page if I knew this would happen. RaccoonCitySurvivor will vouch for me because I have been talking to him about ideas for my blogs.

Also, if you have any questions about the situation, please message me back.

    Sincerely yours,

    RichardAiken7

  • I thought you might find this interesting :

    • It's using the second- and top-level domain, actually - "wikia.com". It doesn't matter if it's "elfen-lied.wikia.com", "residentevil.wikia.com" or "socialism.wikia.com" - it's always 174 in ranking.

    • You, er, wouldn't happen to know anyone who's a fan of the Hyper Police anime and manga, would you? I noticed that there's a considerable lack of information on the net regarding the series, but I'd need to know if anyone would be willing contribute if a wiki is set up, first.

    • I didn't figure it was 1000% accurate, just a curiosity. And sorry - don't know any fans of HP.

  • Just wanted your advice and perspective. I was thinking about 'breaking up' my current article about Japanese culture and making Japanese Culture a category for these separate articles, like Senpai+Kohai, Family Concerns, etc.. My only concern is 'padding' the wiki in that way, ala some like Harry Potter, which go overboard in making sure every last little detail has its own article (even allowing for the relative depth of the stories). Any opinion would be welcomed.

    • I'd say it'll be best to keep the article for the time being, but split it up where you think necessary. "Senpai and Kohai" is the largest section; it could be given its own article, with the entry in the Japanese Culture article being replaced with a summation and link to the article, proper.
