I will avoid spoiling anything, since this release was very recent. Let's just say there is some very likely Elfen Lied-inspired content in this final episode (and. it. is. bloody.)

OK. THIS POST AND THE DISCUSSION THAT FOLLOWS WILL HAVE FULL MASSIVE AND UTTERLY UNAPOLOGETIC SPOILERS FOR THE FINAL SEASON AND ESPECIALLY THE FINAL EPISODE OF SAMURAI JACK.
IF YOU DO NOT WISH TO BE SPOILED ON HOW IT ENDS, CLICK AWAY IMMEDIATELY.
THIS WILL RELATE BACK TO ELFEN LIED.
YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED - FULL SPOILERS AHEAD.
The solitary protagonist had reached the end of a journey prematurely ended in the mid-2000's.
The fandom rejoiced as their pleas were finally met with this long-overdue ending.
It is widely regarded as an extremely bittersweet resolution.
The protagonist saved the one they loved best of all, but could not be with them when all was done.
One lover watched in horrified sadness as the other simply melted away. Their memory never did.
The villain of the piece met their end in an exceptionally quick moment, undone in part by a child they had empowered and sought to control, as some information they had failed to consider came back at them hard.
In short, Samurai Jack triumphed over Aku, returning to the moment of his original banishment to destroy the demon once and for all. Sadly, this meant that his new love Ashi, born of Aku's magic, faded from existence at their wedding in feudal Japan. This also meant that all the allies Jack had gathered over his time in Aku's future also ceased to be, but the world was cleansed of an ultimate evil they stood no chance of overcoming or surviving.
So in other words, a well-liked animated niche show managed to come back and finish its run despite Hollywood seemingly existing to thwart or pervert such noble dogged efforts.
Horns, anyone?

Eleven and Will from Stranger Things have gotten their own Pop! Funko figures, but nary an EL figure to be seen. It ain't hardly fair, I tells ya!

...someone has scanlated the Special Side Story into English, at least - http://www.mangahere.co/manga/elfen_lied/c108.1/
I'll concede he has tons of antecedents, including, as always, Alucard. But this newest Street Fighter character (named F.A.N.G) seems to have just a shade of our resident Complete Monster.
I immediately reminded of Mariko after reading the news that comes originally from London. (yk)

Luc Besson is directing a science fiction/ action movie about a telekinetic mutant femme fatale named Lucy! I'm not sure if it is officially an Elfen Lied adaptation, but this is cool! Hopefully it will be like Chronicle for Akira and Pacific Rim for Evangelion where it doesn't admit to being a rip off, but homages the original enough times and in enough ways to make it REALLY obvious. Those 2 movies were actually decent. Maybe this one can be too. Just don't expect anything deep or emotionally moving from Luc Besson.
This man is making awesome a figure of Nyu and needs more backers to sell them.
