No official English release of Elfen Lied manga yet?

Elfen Lied was already translated and published in many languages like German, French, Italian, Spanish etc. but not in English. The question is why VIZ didn't pick up EL so far? VIZ is Sueisha's company. Its ridiculous to think that English volumes of EL wouldnt sell good in US, Canada or wherever or because EL is too old series. What do you personally think?

I hope so, too.

Hell, if there are translations of the work of JUNJI ITO... There can't be a way EL isn't translated.

OTOH, my worry is, EL may be like some of those arcade games that came out while one home system was declining, but the others hadn't yet ascended, and thus never got adapted to home systems, or only saw this much later. It has a reputation for violence even by anime/manga standards, while as was pointed out here, some are far stronger. It has a reputation for fetishism, but that is represented by moments in the manga, not the whole run. It is now an 'older' series, and publishers want the newest and hottest. So on and so forth, and a series that should have long been available is kept back by industry practices and bad information.

One idea is to contact some of the big publishers and ask them to set up a kickstarter specifically for the manga release.

Yup. Volumes 6 & 7 in Spanish.

Ok, that's what you meant. I thought you bought two full set of the manga volumes (vol 1 to 12). Does that mean that the Manga in Spanish has been published so far only up to the volume 7? Meaning the remaining 5 more volumes are yet to coming?  (yk)

I'm not very sure. I think I saw up to Volume 12, but I can't be certain.

I only have the full version in German from Tokyo pop, I wouldn't mind getting it also in English.

For some reason I have an image of Nana and Mayu's word balloons being placed so you can't tell who is speaking. :D

I, too, want to get a full set of English comic book version, if any in future, since I do not have an access to any scanlation site. I can compare it with Japanese version only when some of you talk about it here.  (yk)
